What inspires ESW to continue creating music?

The desire to be better than everything and everyone else.

Your last release, Wolvves, was a great success, what’s next?

The ‘No Apologies’ tour around Britain to support the release of our new single ‘Shuffle/Stumble’ out on March 1st. The dates are up on our myspace (/eaststrikewestband) and there will be a promotional video to accompany ‘Stumble’.

Post Rock generates creative (and often lengthy) band and track names, how does ESW come up with these?

We’re not really a post-rock band and barring one or two tracks, our titles are generally pretty simple eg. ‘Chu’, ‘Electricity’ or ‘Shuffle’, so I’m not sure how to answer this. We have one title that would fit that description, ‘God can’t take His eyes of me’. It comes from a Christian blog I read that seemed to depict the notion of an omnipresent God as a predatory stalker. At least that was how it read to me.

How does ESW decide which tracks will be on a release? testing them at gigs, or a different method?

The first record was literally a recording of the 10 tracks we had at the time. Only 8 made it on to the album as the studio that recorded the intial tracking of the album completely ruined the recordings and 2 were completely unsalvageable.

What have you been listening to recently that you would recommend to your fan base?

The last horrors record was very good, lose your preconceptions and dive in.

The obligatory political question: Can politics (whichever side of the road) solve global social problems? Discuss

I’m just a struggling ‘musician’, mate…

The obligatory digital media question: We all know that digital downloads (legal or not) are changing the music business, would you say this is a challenge or an opportunity, and why?

…and maybe this is why.
